Preston-based ID cardholder manufacturer, Evohold, acquired by cards-x

Evohold, an eco-friendly ID cardholder manufacturer based in Preston has been sold to cards-x. The German-headquartered company, cards-x, which is a European ID card printer distributor, expanded to the UK just two months ago and based their operations in York.

Max Fretwell, Chief Executive Officer, founded Evohold in 2016 and the family business now manufacturers over six million ID cardholders each year and exports into international markets. Evohold produces a range of badge holders that are antimicrobial and compostable, but the business’ most popular product is completely recyclable.

Post-acquisition, Evohold’s manufacturing centre and machinery will be relocated to cards-x’s manufacturing and distribution facility and the Fretwell family are looking to pursue a new business venture.

Fretwell stated the “Over the last four tears, we’ve built a successful business on the foundations of being a UK manufacturer with a solid eco-credentials. [cards-x] immediately understood the importance of maintaining this ethos and I’m looking forward to seeing the products continue to flourish as part of cards-x.”
