Pets at Home expands digital capability by acquiring The Vet Connection

Today, Cheshire-based Pets at Home has announced the acquisition of The Vet Connection (TVC) for £15 million.

Founded in 2002, The Vet Connection offers customised white-label veterinary telehealth solutions. As the largest provider in the UK, TVC uses an experienced in-house veterinary team to conduct c. 90,000 remote consultations per year. The business, with an adjusted EBITDA of £0.7 million, is supported by extensive proprietary clinical protocols and numerous communication channels, resulting in a scalable and robust infrastructure.

The acquisition will enable Pets at Home to expand its digital capability in providing trusted advice, triage and ancillary services. Pets at Home have financed the deal through existing cash reserves.

Pets at Home Group Chief Executive, Peter Pritchard, stated that “we recognise TVC’s exceptional telehealth capabilities and excellent service levels, as well as the opportunities arising from the scalability of their clinical protocols and proprietary telehealth platform, and look forward to incorporating their capabilities into our existing customer offer – across product, services and subscriptions – to enhance the overall customer experience, and help drive customer acquisition, retention and lifetime value.”
