Traffic management systems manufacturer SRL approached Rowan to deliver a CFO and subsequent new board structure capable of taking the business into a second round of investment and scaling to become a market leader.
The founder and acting CFO, Richard Tredwin, had identified the need for a senior leadership team that would enable him to step into the role of CEO and drive the growth desired to achieve the defined value creation plan.
Working with Richard and PE investors LDC, the team at Rowan defined the leadership bridge required to build out the desired board structure. Acknowledging Richard’s desire to move into a more strategic role Rowan focused originally on the appointment of an experienced CFO – John McLaughlin.
Subsequently Rowan defined the senior leadership team structure having mapped out several leadership teams from within the peer group. The requirements was for a team that would deliver the right mix of experience along with complementary behaviours to drive the accelerated growth desired by Richard and investors LDC.
Following the initial appointment of John McLaughlin as CFO, Rowan placed Adrian Murphy into the role of COO and Iain McDonald as BDD.
Having progressed to role of CEO, founder Richard Tredwin was subsequently able to step up to Non Exec Director and COO Adrian stepped into the role of CEO. Having achieved all growth targets SRL was valued at £300m upon investment from 3i.
Private Equity House LDC achieved a 5.6x ROI when they exited in 2021.
