Family-owned, private e-commerce business Clubhouse Golf was experiencing a period of high growth and had ambitions of growing the international footprint of the business. Managing Director Ben Reeves approached Rowan to support the business in defining the leadership team required to facilitate their desired growth plans. The business wanted to continue to develop both their B2B and B2C channels, building on the strong product experience they already possessed whilst bolstering their leadership team with commercial and operational expertise. Additionally, Ben was considering how best to facilitate their international expansion plans to drive accelerated growth.
Rowan worked with Ben and the team at Foresight following their £4m investment, to define the optimum leadership team structure to support the value creation plan. Having identified that international expansion was a key focus Rowan mapped out an optimum leadership team structure including a Director of Finance & Operations, a Marketing Director and an Operations Director.
Working alongside Foresight Rowan was able to develop a leadership team structure that met the expectations of both the business owners and the key stakeholders. And having a clearly defined value creation plan ensured that the team was right for the current and future stages of the growth journey.
Following the appointment of CFO Jocelyn Morgan and Marketing Director Alex Whitfield, Clubhouse Golf doubled its revenue to £30m and expanded into the European market. Alex Whitfield lead the development and launch of a new website and delivered a successful marketing strategy leading to an increase in sales enabling the company to lift staff numbers by 50%.
Within three years of the original investment Clubhouse Golf investment achieved their value creation plans and delivered a 6x ROI for PE House Foresight through the sale to all4golf.
